Colorado Front Range: Introduction to Trad Climbing

Trad climbing is the ultimate freedom in terms of big adventures in the mountains. Learning to place and trust gear, manage risk and fear, and understanding anchors can be daunting to new trad climbers. Plus we all know a trad rack isn’t cheap! So before making the pig purchase, join us for a day of learning to place gear, climb trad routes and more! our guides are all excellent trad climbers with the skills to teach you how to progress safely, and build confidence in your skills. Our courses are right here in the Colorado front range, just minutes from downtown Denver or Boulder, we have everything you need for an awesome day out on the rock. 

Time Frame: 1 Day (9am-3pm)

Curriculum: Active and Passive protection, Gear Placement, Introduction to basic Trad Anchors, Risk management on Lead, Climbing and more!

Prerequisites: Ability to Climb 5.8 in the Gym, and an understanding of sport/lead climbing is helpful

Cost: 1 Person $350, 2-4 People $200 Per Person (Max Ratio 4:1)

 

Learn on Real Rock

Nothing compares to the real deal. A trip with us allows you to learn on rock and make more progress as a climber. Our instructors are pros at moving over rock and would love to share their skills and experience with you.

How many participants come by themselves? Most participants (95%) who sign up for our group clinics come alone. If you are hesitating to join because you would be coming solo, please know that we expect a majority of our participants to be joining by themselves, seeking community. 

I’ve never climbed before, can I still attend? This is not the best clinic for you, check out our Introduction to Outdoor Rock Climbing Courses. 

What is the average age of participants? We generally have a wide range of ages at our retreats. The average tends to fall anywhere between the ages of 26 to 45. But we have had quite a few people in their 60’s join as well. It really is up to the attitude and physical ability of the participant.
